What is PH Balance and Why is It Important?
The pH scale measures how acidic or alkaline a substance is and ranges from 0-14. Seven is neutral. Below 7 becomes increasingly acidic, above 7 increasingly alkaline.
Why is this important? Being over acidic can cause cardiovascular damage, premature aging, weight gain, kidney stones, and joint pain as well as periodontal disease. Tooth roots begin to dissolve as your PH gets a tiny bit below neutral. Your teeth actually become stronger and re-mineralize when the mouth is alkaline at a pH 7.5 or above.
The easiest most effective way to experience the benefits of alkalinity is making changes to the foods you eat and what you drink. Leafy greens, any kind of vegetable, sprouts, nuts and seeds all can increase the alkalinity in your body. When you incorporate these whole foods into your diet on a daily basis your body will respond quickly and you will feel better.

Super Power Green Smoothie
- 2 tablespoons ground flax seed
- 1 cup water and ice cubes
- 1 orange peeled and diced
- 1 banana
- 2 cups washed and trimmed fresh spinach
- 1 -2 teaspoons coconut oil
Blend in blender until smooth. This should make 1 quart
